Financial Coaching Services
Seek advice and support in planning your retirement or future life goals.
I am Ryan, founder of Retirement Calculators. These sessions are a relaxed, practical conversation about the life you want and how your money, time, and habits can line up behind it. No hard sell, no jargon, just an informal chat on your life goals and aspirations.

If you have already played with the calculators, you have a sense of what is possible with already having a financial cushion. Coaching is where we make that personal: what an ordinary week should feel like, what you are protecting, and which trade-offs you are actually willing to own.
I am not here to replace a financial adviser. I will not recommend specific funds, products, or investment strategies. The work is coaching on your goals and how you might move towards them in real life, in manageable steps.
I want you to reach for a life that fits you, not following the status quo when you could be changing how you live. If our calculators have opened a door, this is the next step: we connect those figures to your story, your week, and what may work and what my not. That is when the numbers enable you to craft a life you want to lead.

A bit about me
I sold my educational business in 2021. Almost overnight, I was sitting on a lump sum in the bank and had no monthly salary. That is a different kind of pressure: which direction to take, how long the money needs to last, and honestly, what freedom even meant to us once the hamster wheel stopped.
A big part of finding our feet was planning what we wanted from life. We had an opportunity to craft a life we want to lead while still earning money and enjoying the work we do. For us, a lot of it boiled down to the simple stuff:
- Summers off with our children, including our yearly trip in Europe (we are big on the 18 summers idea while they are little).
- Being able to pick them up and take them to school, not always rushing past each other.
- Dinner together every evening.
- Looking after health and well-being properly. Make time in the day for fitness, walks and bike rides.
- Financial independence is not about stopping work altogether, but having enough of a cushion to work intentionally in the areas and projects where you find real joy.
They are the things that really matter to us. Yours might look nothing like that, and that is fine. Not all journeys are the same. I have a young family, and we are building our money choices around the life we actually want to live, not the other way round. What would yours look like?
Along the way, I have gone deep on financial literacy and the psychology of money. Think of me as someone in your corner who will help you sketch a lifestyle you can afford emotionally and practically, then work on it with you in manageable steps.
What I like doing
Here are some of the things I like to do with my week. What would your week look like?

Lifestyles people often want to design
Earlier or phased retirement
Leaving the nine-to-five sooner, or winding down in stages. We stress-test numbers against your aspirations to see what works.
Part-time and portfolio work
Less time in the office, more time for family, health, or a side project. We talk about what a sustainable rhythm looks like and whether it is feasible in the short, medium, and long term.
After corporate
Years in a demanding job can leave you burnt out and wondering what’s next. We make space to imagine a switch or a reset, and what money needs to look like while you transition without feeling reckless.
Coaching, not regulated advice

Tailored to your needs
Might this be for you?
- You want room to talk openly about the life you want now and later, and to feel a bit more secure while you figure it out.
- You have used our calculators (or similar), and you would like help turning scenarios into a lifestyle plan you can actually live.
- You are curious about early retirement, part-time work, or leaving the corporate world, perhaps, and you want a conversation with an external sounding board.
- You want an alternative to the default career path: more time, more intention, a different shape to work. You are ready to talk through what that could look like in practice.
- Something big has shifted (a business sale, inheritance, new job) and you fancy an impartial voice to talk through your plans.
What a session feels like
- 30 minutes on a video call. I will send the link when you book.
- We start with your life goals and life design: what you want time, work, and family to look like, then habits, mindset, and practical steps that support that. I will not recommend specific investments or regulated recommendations; the focus is on coaching on how you want to live and how to move towards it.
How we usually work together
You book one session at a time. If you only want a single conversation to sense-check where you are, that is fine. For most people, though, three sessions is a sensible minimum: it gives enough space to move from the big picture to your numbers, and then into trade-offs and what to do next.
- Session 1: You and the life you want. Getting to know each other, your aspirations, goals and timeframes. We stay high level: what a good life looks like for you, what you are protecting or changing, and the shape of work and time you want.
- Session 2: How the money looks. We look at your money in simple, everyday terms: what comes in, what goes out, what you already have, and where you would like to be. Then we map that onto the life you described so you can see how it lines up, where the gap is, and what might need to change. Making positive changes to your life usually means action, so we can look at how your money facilitates this move.
- Session 3: Trade-offs and next steps. We bring the life story and the numbers together. What you would gain or give up if you chose A over B, what feels non-negotiable, and what you might try first. The aim is a smaller set of concrete next steps that fit your life, not a generic to-do list.
Pricing
A session is £50 for 30 minutes. When you choose a time below, you will pay securely by card through Stripe (handled in the Cal.com checkout).

FAQ
A few questions people often ask about coaching, and how this sits next to other help you might use.
Is this financial advice?
No. It is coaching: educational, supportive, practical. I will not tell you what to buy or sell, or give personalised recommendations on regulated products. For that, you will want a qualified financial adviser.
Can you review my pension or investments?
We can talk about principles and how to think about decisions. We will not go into regulated advice on specific products or transfers.
Why bother with financial coaching?
Financial coaching is one of the most underutilised services available across the UK. An external perspective on your life and finances. Coaching helps you name what matters, see trade-offs in plain English, and leave with steps that fit your real week.
What makes you authentic?
We sold our education business at 34 & 32, respectively, and had to figure out life without a regular income. This has led to an interest in financial literacy and understanding how money is a tool for an enjoyable life.
Do I need to have used your calculators first?
No. They are a brilliant head start if you have, but they are scenario-based tools and may not fit your specific needs. With coaching, it will be a tailored approach and a 1-1 discussion.
Cancellations and refunds
If you have to cancel, that's absolutely fine. A full refund will be processed upon cancellation if this is done within 2 days before the call.
Do I have to book three sessions?
No. Each booking is a single 30-minute session. Ideally, this would be a long-term engagement as financial coaching cannot be captured in one 30-minute phone call. Think of it like a personal trainer in that, typically, the more you put in, the more you get out of the engagement.
Privacy: Cal.com holds what you type in when you book, and your card details sit with 3rd party payment gateway Stripe.
What a financial coach does
A financial coach is someone trained to look at your money and your life as a whole, help you see your situation clearly, and support you in building a plan to reach your goals. It is a bit like having a personal trainer for your money: structure, honest perspective, and steady progress, without telling you which specific product to buy next.
Coaching with Retirement Calculators UK is not a regulated service, and we are not acting as your financial adviser in these sessions. If you want regulated advice on particular investments, pensions, transfers, or other products, you will need a qualified financial adviser who is authorised to give that type of recommendation. Our sessions are for education, coaching, and personal development around your goals and habits. They are not a substitute for tax or legal advice where you need a specialist.
